`As if you could become undrenched`

Welcome to a quiet time of reflection

for Maundy Thursday

Scripture sentence

Jesus - `Now my heart is troubled and what shall I say?

`Father save Me from this hour?`

No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.

Father, glorify Your Name. ` John 12:27

The Servant Song

(watch and listen and sing along with https://youtu.be/ttW9oQ-yiuU)

1. Brother, sister let me serve you.
Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant too.

2. We are pilgrims on the journey
and companions on the road.
We are here to help each other
Walk the mile and bear the load

3. I will hold the Christ light for you
In the night time of your fear.
I will hold my hand out to you.
Speak the peace you long to hear.

4. I will weep when you are weeping.
When you laugh, I'll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow
Till we've seen this journey through.

5. When we sing to God in heaven
We shall find such harmony
Born to all we've known together
Of Christ's love and agony.

Repeat verse 1

Prayer

Loving God, Lord of this time and all times,

times of deep quiet and deep disquiet,

Hear and receive the prayers of Your people who gather to wonder

at the mystery and awefulness of these next days.

Humble us. Forgive us. Help us.

In the name and for the sake of Jesus who gave himself for us

and for the whole world.

Amen

JOHN 13:1 -15

`An upper room did our Lord prepare`

(Fred Green Pratt)

An upper room did our Lord prepare

for those he loved until the end:

and his disciples still gather there

to celebrate their risen friend.

A lasting gift Jesus gave his own:

to share his bread, his loving cup.

Whatever burdens may bow us down,

he by his cross shall lift us up.

And after supper he washed their feet,

for service, too, is sacrament.

In Christ our joy shall be made complete:

sent out to serve, as he was sent.

No end there is! We depart in peace,

he loves beyond the uttermost:

in every room in our Father's house

Christ will be there, as Lord and Host.
